BAKELS
On September 21, 1904, brothers Hendrik A and Bernadus J Bakels registered the first Bakels company in Amsterdam.
The Bakels Group as we know it today is largely the result of the vision and lifelong efforts of Bernardus' son, Bernard J Bakels. In 1943 he led the company into manufacturing and in 1943 established Nordbakels in Sweden.
Through a combination of investment and innovation, more companies and successful products were added each decade until his death in 1986. Since then, this successful combination has continued to be applied - with investments increasing every year, along with innovative new products.
By remaining a private company owned by a foundation established by Bernard J Bakels, we have grown into a group of nearly 40 companies, manufacturing on five continents.
Bakels' success is due not only to investments in facilities and innovation, but also to our employees, whose dedication to our company and the customers we serve has characterized Bakels for over 100 years. More and more investment is being spent on training people, young and old, to master basic baking skills.
